Houndshow 2011 Critique

My thanks to exhibitors for excellent entry and to my very efficient Stewards.

PD (2)

1st Hawkins KWARICOTT CORELLI, well grown 8 month old, shapely with good front, deep body and strong hindquarters. Strode out well for age.

2nd Aston’s STRANWITH SLATE TO BALGALED , shapely dark youngster, nice head and expression. Good topline and bend of stifle. Not as steady as (1) on the move.

JD (4)

1st Rhodes & Morton’s GENTOM SEMPER FI, good overall outline, sound front and rear, well set small ears. Moved well coming and going. Best Junior.

2nd Taylor’s KILBOURNE WOODSMAN TO ORMANSTAR, taller dog with lovely head and expression, good reach of neck, depth and tuck up. Not as sound as (1).

3RD Dimmock’s CANERIKIE COOL CUSTOMER

YD (5 2)

1st Wragg’s NEROCHE IRVING, promising youngster with pleasing head, nicely balanced with sound front, good topline and bend of stifle. Sound, free mover.

2nd McLoughlin’s NIXOPHEL CINNABAR, tall dark dog with good overall outline, deep brisket, nice head, rather large ears. Sound, but not the drive of one.

3rd Stuart & Holt’s REGALFLIGHT TOMAHAWK AT OLLANDSHEART

SpB (2 1)

1st Stabb’s LAIRD OF SUMMERISLE, tall dog at gangly teenager stage. Good overall shape, harsh coat, erratic on the move.

PG (5 1)

1st Owen & Brodie’s WOLFSCASTLE DRAIG, well constructed with deep brisket and good spring of rib. Correct front and strong hindquarters giving sound movement with drive.

2nd Wilson’s HAMILTONHILL FRED D MERCURY, smaller dog with good dark coat, nice head, correct topline with strong drooping hindquarters. Moved soundly. Close decision.

3rd Meer’s KILBOURNE HARVEY AT LORDSWELL

LD (9 3)

1st Adam’s ARDNEISH LOHENGRIN, tall, well balanced with correct topline kept on the move. Good head with nice small ears. Correct front and strong well-muscled hindquarters. Moved soundly with drive.

2nd McLoughlin’s GRAIZELUND ROCK AND ROLL OF GLENHAIGH, smaller dog but shapely and well balanced with good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved well, but not the drive of (1).

3rd Miss Morgan’s HYNDSIGHT METEOR

OD (10 1)

1st Gillies DORRATOR GETHEN, stood out in a strong class. Very well balanced with nothing exaggerated. Correct construction front and rear. Lovely head and expression, deep brisket, correct topline. If you want to know how a deerhound should move, Watch Him! CC and BOB.

2nd Barret’s STRANWITH SYMPHONY, another good dog, heavier build. Good head with strong neck, deep brisket and powerful well muscled hindquarters. Moved soundly with drive. Unfortunate to meet (1) today. RCC

3rd Peach’s KILBOURNE FIRE CHIEF.

Sp Coursing (2)

1st Helps CH.GREYFRIARS GILLE OF BEARDSWOOD, tall dog with strong deep body, good front and rear. P{leasing head, good reach of neck, moved soundly.

2nd Hawkins KWARICOTT ASCLEPIUS, not the substance of (1) but shapely and well constructed front and rear. Nice head. Looks as if he can run, sound and free.

Vet D or B (6)

1st Shannon’s LEALLA JOKA, very shapely, feminine bitch carrying her 9 years very well. Lovely head and expression. Better movement than some half her age. Well presented and handled.

2nd Helps CH.BEARDSWOOD MARMION, tall well built 7 year old, typical of this kennel with good front, topline and hindquarters. Not as steady as (1) on the move.
3rd Shannon’s LEALLA IS FEARR

P B (3 1)

1st Peach’s KILBOURNE TELIAH very shapely, feminine 9 month old with good depth, well constructed front and rear. Sound on the move. Hope she grows on.

2nd Hawkins’ KWARICOTT CHARISMA, litter sister to BP and same critique applies, close decision.

JB (9 7)

1st Smart’s KESSOCH MARSCO, disappointing number of absentees but this is a very promising youngster. Nice feminine head and expression. Shapely with good depth, topline and bend of stifle. Harsh coat, good feet. Playing up at times, but showed enough sound free movement.

2nd McGill’s COTHERSTONE TAKE SILK, another with good overall outline, good reach of neck, rather large ears. Heavier build than (1). Moved soundly.

YB (7 2)

1st Stuart & Holt’s PYEFLEET SKATHA AT OLLANDSHEART, tall, good looking bitch with deep brisket and spring of rib. Well constructed front and rear, harsh coat. Sound mover. Promising.

2nd Smart’s KESSOCH MARSCO

3rd Quinn’s HODDINGREY TERRONA

1st McLoughlin’s KINGROCK CHIEFTAIN'S CHOICE AT GLENHAIG, tall, well made, deep body with good spring of rib. Well let down hocks, strode out well.

2nd Keeling’s CLAONAIGLEN EHERVIE, smaller with nice head and expression, deep brisket, good bend of stifle, harsh coat. Not as sound as (1).

3rd Stabbs GREYHAWKS ROMANIE KHAM

PG (9 4)

1st Girling’s PYEFLEET SABINE, very shapely, strong bitch with good head and expression and reach of neck. Deep brisket, well muscled and looks like she could do a days work. Free, flowing movement.

2nd Dockree’s REGALFLIGHT KALIFI OF GORSEKREE not the substance of (1). Very feminine with good head and reach of neck. Sound front and rear. Good tight feet. Moved well.
3rd Blandford’s KILLOETER PEGGY

LB (11 2)

1st Gillie’s DORRATOR SONG FOR DRELLA, daughter of BOB and has inherited all his good points. Came very close in the Challenge and will surely go one better before long. RCC.

2nd Bailey’s GREYFLAX CRYSTA L another lovely young bitch destined for greater things. Well constructed front and rear with correct topline kept on the move. Sound mover but not quite the drive of (1)

3rd Morgan’s LADYGROVE CALAMITY JANE AT AMIRO

OB (12 2)

Strongest class of the day with several who will change places on another day.
1st Bailey’s GREYFLAX MILLY MOLLY MANDY a bitch I liked as a puppy who has fulfilled her promise. Very shapely, lovely head and expression. Good front and rear, deep brisket, well let down hocks. Sound free mover. CC.

2nd Girling’s CH.PYEFLEET ROKESBY strong, workmanlike bitch with good head, reach of neck and deep brisket. Tight feet, well muscled. Sound mover and worthy Champion.

3rd Platt’s CHARBONNEL FLISS

Sp Coursing (4 1)

1st Gilhooly’s FREYJA AT NOBYS well built and shapely. Good reach of neck, correct front and rear. Well presented. Moved soundly.

2nd Taylor’s LYART YEA VERILY not the biggest but very shapely with feminine head and expression. Well constructed front and rear, deep brisket, low set hocks. Sound.

3rd Faircloth’s BEARDSWOOD POESY AT CALBRAIDH
